Alf Hertaeg

Alf has 40 years power plant related experience covering a broad area of both design and operation of large thermal power station plant. Specialising largely in turbine and related plant and also instrumentation and controls, his experience includes, power plant upgrades – including the successful Loy Yang Power upgrade project, remaining plant life and engineering studies, power plant design, repowering, failure analysis, and power plant performance studies.

His experience is predominantly utility size steam power plants although he also has experience in gas turbine, combined cycle, geothermal and co-generation plants. He has extensive experience relating to power plant thermal and dynamic modelling.

With the SECV he was responsible for the design of the Loy Yang A and B Unit co-ordination systems and had a substantial input into the Loy Yang B turbine governor and turbine bypass control system designs.
